Encouraged by the success of the Rencontres doctorales Monique Mémet since their inauguration in 2011, the organising committee has decided to renew this initiative at the 47th GERAS Conference (Groupe d’Étude et de Recherche en Anglais de Spécialité), which will take place from 19 to 21 March 2026 at the University of Burgundy in Dijon.
The Doctoral Meetings will be held on 19 March 2026.
These meetings are fully in line with GERAS’s mission to promote research, exchange, and collaboration in the field of English for Specific Purposes. They provide a unique opportunity for reflection and discussion, where PhD students present the progress of their research to a supportive audience, often in the presence of their supervisor, in the form of a structured 20-minute paper followed by questions. The discussion may address specific aspects of the ongoing research: practical or methodological issues, links with scientific publications or conference papers, preparation for the viva, etc. A round table led by a GERAS faculty member then provides an opportunity to discuss the doctoral journey and its potential academic and professional perspectives.
Participants are invited to submit questions and indicate the themes they would like to see addressed. The Call for Papers for the 2026 GERAS Conference can be consulted on the GERAS 2026 website (see the relevant tab), and submissions may be uploaded directly via the platform.

ℹ️ Reminder
The GERAS Doctoral Meetings were renamed the “Rencontres doctorales Monique Mémet” in 2021 in honour of Monique Mémet, a scholar specialised in English for Specific Purposes and a long-standing member of GERAS from the 1990s until her passing in 2021.
